For a brief thirty-plus
years, the Passaic "Y" on Washington Place was the center of all the city's
Jewish activities. Many of the youngsters who attended its day camp or
the nursery school first became aware of their Jewish heritage and identity.
For teenagers, it was the place where we played, had our first loves,
and where we matured. For adults it was a center for cultural and athletic
activities.
This book recaptures
those wonderful years in a series of vignettes - actual life adventures
- that occurred at the Passaic "Y." Some humorous, some poignant, they
delineate the wonderful joy provided by the Passaic YM-YWHA on Washington
Place.
